Flower vase
POLAR reconceptualizes the conventional vase or display bowl. The contrast of the deep colors and the sense of liberation imbued in its design expresses a unique and dignified aesthetic. By utilizing lost wax precision casting we were able to overcome the difficulties inherent in crafting its unorthodox form which requires a great deal of under-shaping. The copper alloy has a disinfectant quality which extends the life of cut flowers and even when adorned with large flowers or branches, POLAR retains stability thanks to the robust metal from which it is formed.
花器とフルーツボウル、2つの機能を持つデザイン。深みのある伝統着色を内と外側で塗り分けることにより、今までの工芸品には無い独特の表情が生まれている。このプロジェクトは中村製作所のロストワックス精密鋳造の技術をアピールするためのプロジェクトの一環。そこで考案したのは、アンダー形状が多くを占めるこの造形。ワックスの状態で部品を組み合わせて原型を作成、そのまま鋳造するため、他の鋳造方法や切削加工で作ることは困難であり、ロストワックス精密鋳造ならではの特徴が顕著に表れていると言える。銅合金は殺菌作用があるため、切り花が長持ちすると言われている。また、金属の重量と丈夫さで、大きな花や枝ものを生けても非常に安定感がある。
ifuki is an original brand of copper products launched in 2021 and crafted in Takaoka City, a rural town with 400 years of metalworking history. Designed as decorative accessories that seamlessly harmonize with people's modern lifestyles whether actively used or not. Each item has been carefully curated using traditional craft techniques but with the flair of modern design.
このアイテムは、銅製品のオリジナルブランド「ifuki（イフキ）」のラインナップの１つ。 現代の人々のライフスタイルに馴染むような、彫刻のようなデザインの道具。 使っている時もそうでない時も、生活を華やかに彩る。 産地は400年の歴史をもつ鋳物の町・富山県高岡市。 中村製作所の職人が得意とする「ロストワックス精密鋳造」の数々の技術を取り入れた、 独自性の高いアイテムをデザイン。 伝統工芸で用いられる技法をモダンなデザインに転用した。
